Transportation Options for Your Pre-Engineered Steel Building
To ensure that you understand all aspects of the shipment of your order, you should discuss this subject with your pre-engineered steel structure system manufacturer or dealer.
Once your steel building system has been planned and then fabricated at the plant, it will then be transported to your construction site. In concurrence to the purchase order all arrangements will be completed by the seller. This is usually done through a third-party trucking firm, although numerous structure suppliers do haul via their own semi’s. Prior to being specified in the building contract, appropriate accommodations for shipping should be scrutinized. Beware that any changes you make to your transportation requirements close to the shipping date may result in additional fees.
It is your own task to select a delivery day with the steel building firm once you have made the purchase. Complete assembly of your order may take weeks or months, depending on how busy the manufacturer is with other projects. You should arrange all other tasks accordingly.
The specific regular trucking company then becomes responsible for the loading of the building parts at the production facility, and the movement of these parts to the job site. It is your own obligation as the customer to sign for the structure and the building parts at the construction site or other address, unless the obligation is appropriated to a building erector or contractor. You must therefore ensure that the correct shipping address has been provided to the supplier.
Some purchasers need to have their steel structure system delivered to the job location ahead of assembly. Many steel structures will be shipped with primer and protective finishes already in place. You must ensure that adequate materials are provided to shield all building components from weather extremes. Even if the building parts will be kept at the work location for just a short time, protection should still be provided.
A large amount of erectors and contractors are booked up for weeks or even months in advance during busy construction periods. Again it is your responsibility to ensure you consult with and book an erector ahead of time. If you follow all procedures carefully and allow for all processes to be properly carried out, the result should be a quality steel structure that will serve your purposes for many years.
